Privacy policy
TheorySwipe privacy policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026. Applies to the TheorySwipe Android app (package uk.theoryswipe.app) and this website.
In short: TheorySwipe does not collect, store or share any personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics. Your progress is saved only on your phone.
Who we are
TheorySwipe ("the app") is an independent learning app for the UK car theory test, published by [YOUR NAME OR BUSINESS NAME], United Kingdom. Contact: hello@theoryswipe.co.uk.
What the app stores, and where
- Your learning progress (cards learned, quiz and mock test results, streaks, coins, medals, avatars, settings, and your test date if you add one) is stored only on your device, inside the app.
- We never receive this information. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. The app makes no network requests.
- If Android backup is turned on for your phone, Android may include the app's saved progress in your own Google account backup so it can be restored on a new phone. Google manages this backup under your Google account settings, and we cannot see it.
Permissions
- Notifications: used only for the optional study reminder you choose to set. Reminders are created on your device.
- Vibration: used for haptic feedback while you use the app. You can turn it off in settings.
- Run at start-up: used only to restore your reminder after your phone restarts.
Read aloud
The read-aloud feature uses your phone's own text-to-speech service. The text is read on your device. If you have chosen a text-to-speech service that works online, that service's own privacy policy applies.
Things we do not do
- No accounts, sign-in or contact details collected
- No advertising, tracking or analytics
- No access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone
Children
The app is designed for learner drivers aged 16 and over. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
You can delete all saved progress at any time by uninstalling the app, or with Android Settings → Apps → TheorySwipe → Storage → Clear storage. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have rights over personal data held about you. As we hold none, there is usually nothing to access or correct, but you can always contact us with questions. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
This website
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. Our fonts are hosted on this site, so no third-party font service sees your visit. Our hosting provider processes standard request data such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect against abuse, under its own privacy policy. If you email us, we use your email only to reply and delete it when it is no longer needed.
Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of data ever changes (for example, if optional cloud sync is added), we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
